This game is a must for anyone who is interested in Armoured warfare! It's perfect for both strategy players and people who would rather follow the orders because giving orders is an option, which is really cool. The scenario's for the stock game aren't exactly "On the edge" tank battles, but more realistically based assaults from the Soviets and the Germans. ** THAT BEING SAID, the modding possibilities from this game are endless, and are available at Tanksim.com, Graviteam forum, and the local mediafire download site, all of which are available upon request from the forum moderators at Tanksim.com.EDIT:For those scratching their heads at the reference to this "graviteam" company, there is an explanation. Basically, Graviteam is a group of Russian Game designers. Because their company is so small, they don't have the resources to produce the game themselves, and they don't have a whole lot of experience in the Western Gaming market. They've ended up selling their product and rights to various publishing companies (it generally differs from game to game) and come out with unofficial patches for them.Mods are a must for this game. The stock game is nice, but limited, and the mods located in the Graviteam Steel Fury forum are priceless. I personally recommend getting JSGME to switch between them, but it is up to the buyer.Want to make your own missions? The Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942 comes with a Mission editor, however it's embedded in the game. To access it, you need to make a new shortcut on your desktop to:"C:\Programfiles(x86)\Strategy First\Steel Fury\bin\rel\shell.exe" root\programs\misedit.program (include the "" 's)Once you've done that, right click on the icon (default named Shell.exe) and go down to properties. Once in the properties, click on the Shortcut tab and go down to "Start in:". place the following text in that box:"C:\Programfiles(x86)\Strategy First\Steel Fury\"Now you're good to go! use the Editor manual in the "Docs" folder (in your game file location) to guide you through making or editing your own missions** CAUTION. many of the mods require you to overwrite or add to certain files in the script's of the game. You need to go to C:\Program Files(x86)\Strategy First and right click on the Steel Fury folder. In the properties tab, uncheck the "READ ONLY" box to allow editing of the folders. You may have to change the security settings of the folder to keep Windows from overriding you.*** these mods require Steel Panzer 1.5 to be downloaded and enabled through use of JSMGE (already installed with the game). ALWAYS ENABLE THE FIX AND ENGLISH VERSION LAST AND IN THEIR RESPECTIVE ORDER!! (Steel panzer 1.5, other mods,Steel panzer 1.5 fix, SP 1.5 english fix beta)EDIT:It's been over a year since I purchased this product, and I still play it all the time. The modding community is still active as ever, and one of the friendliest I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I think this tank simulateor is the most historically accurate most vissualy apealing I have ever seen. Do not pass it up if you are in any way interested in world war two.Dammage effects are great weapon sounds and accuracey seem real.EVERYTHING seems real.The only downfall is that if you are interested in mods most of them (if you are an english vershion downloader) are in Russian.But it is still possible to get a translated mod.You just have to look for them.By the way the soundtrack for the intro vidieo is not the best.

This is one of the best WW2 tank sims that I have seen. What makes this a 5 star sim is the active mod community who create some fantastic missions and mods. These mods are free to use and really boost this sim from good to pretty awesome. Google Sfk 1942 mods or visit the Graviteam.com forum for the best info and mods.
