4Game itself is great! Origin and Battlelog slightly bring down the experience.
By Mark Garety
I wanted to write a review about the game itself, and not focus so much on things outside of the game i.e. Origin and Battlelog.I've been gaming on the PC since the late 90s, and this is one of the best games that I have experienced. If you enjoy first person shooters on the PC, then this is a must. The game features stunning graphics, but it can still run, and look good on a mid range PC. This game goes above and beyond what other shooters have done in the past and has interesting and unique features (if you want to call them that) that other games simply do not have. These include realistic physics that affect all projectile objects (bulletts fall over distance), suppressive fire that blurrs the screen of the player being suppressed, lasers that blind you, flashlights that white out your screen in dark areas, and sniper's scopes show a glare in the sunlight. The game also features one of the best animation systems that I've seen. Characters transition naturally from animation to animation. Moving about the environment feels realistic, and it looks realistic when viewing other players. The game provides the opportunity to drive and fly all the vehicles in the game during multiplayer. This is what Battlefield is known for. The vehicle combat is fun, but it requires skill, especially when flying in jets or helicopters.Aside from these new aspects of the game, the recent trend of unlocks and leveling up in shooters is found in this game. You gain experience points for doing things in the game, and that translates into leveling up and unlocking goodies. Battlefield has 4 classes in multiplayer: Assault, Engineer, Support, & Recon. Each class has it's own unlock progression and own special abilities. The game encourages you to be a team player. When playing as a team and playing to the strengths of your class, you earn points faster. All in all, this is one of the best multiplayer shooters out there. The single player game is short, but enjoyable. It will most likely be finished up in under 10 hours. The story isn't necessarily ground breaking, but it is fun to play through. However, quick time events kind of take away from the otherwise good experience. Not to say they are bad, but they don't seem to fit with what this game is about. They feel like they were an afterthought. The story itself is not as well written as some others on the market, but it works just fine for the game. It doesn't detract at all from the experience, it's just not the most original story out there. There are some things which I don't like, but they aren't the game itself. They are Origin and Battlelog. Origin is required to play the game, no matter where you bought the game. The program itself is trying to be an alternative to Steam, but it isn't as user friendly, and it isn't as optimized. It will give occasional errors and crashes. For me, I haven't had too many issues, but others have had a great number of issues. It seems hit or miss. Battlelog is the web interface through which you access the game itself. It isn't too bad, but it is trying to turn the game into a social network, which some like and others don't. You track all your player stats through here, and this is also where you access the game and select serverst to play. You have a communication center in here where you can invite friends to join your game, create partys to play together, and use voice coms with your party.Overall I really enjoy this game.Plusses:+Great Gameplay+Graphics+Multiplayer+Physics and effects+Vehicles+Sound QualityMinuses:-Origin is required-Can be buggy at times (seems to have been fixed since launch)-No team voice chat (party only)-You have to go through battlelog to access the game.I would give this game a 9 out of 10.

3A worthy BF game, hampered by Origin
By VA Gamer
(+) Graphics and presentation, it looks and sounds amazing. There were many things done to refine animations, and the soldiers and vehicles themselves are approaching an uncanny valley(+) The game play is terrific. It stays very true to the formula from Bad Company 2, with subtle improvements like full prone, some vehicular control and sight improvements, etc(+/-) The single campaign is impressive to look at and listen to, but the story itself is mundane and uninspired. There is some pretty amateur writing, in regards to plot, pacing, and dialog. Despite this it's serviceable, and pretty fun to play through. It only took me about 5 hours to complete it(-) Origin is a terrible and clumsily designed digital distribution and social network, and it's a shame EA is not only forcing it upon consumers but also not publishing a Steam version. It's poorly integrated, violates privacy, and wouldn't even be a quality product if we were having this discussion in 2005(+/-) BattleLog detracts from the multiplayer process. It's EA's web-based (runs in a browser) interface that replaces the in-game menu and server browser. It makes the simple act of joining a game a hassle. Its use forces the game to exit after each match. I spent a lot of time waiting for BattleLog to refresh, find a server, and essentially re-launch the game. I use Chrome and the extension would occasionally go into overdrive and eat up significant CPU cycles. When the servers are up, BattleLog is ready, and you can actually get in, it's the same quality multiplayer found in Bad Company 2 - just refined. Larger maps and a greater diversity of weapons and customizationIf you're interested I'd advise holding off until EA either publishes a Steam version or removes the forced Origin install and BattleLog integration. The other option would be to wait a few years until EA can develop them into a services worthy of live production - right now they're clearly not ready for prime time. And that said, there's still the privacy issues to consider.(edit #2: I actually went ahead and returned this to my local retailer on 10/31/2011. Apparently I'm far from the first, because the sales person actually apologized to me for buying this)

1Wait a Year
By Jon Molle
So you install the game, install punkbuster, and install Origin. Okay, sure, everyone wants to use always-on DRM now, price of admission and all that. Punkbuster is fine, aimbots are way worse than a little anti-cheat software. Then this happens:Bonus Kübler-Ross sections:Denial:1. You get an authentication error and can't start the game for a day or two.2. You start the game only to go to something that looks suspiciously like a website. It is a website! Awesome, now I don't have to worry about compatibility issues with the menu and server browser requiring giant firewall exceptions.Anger3. False alarm, you're not done installing. Go download some always-on DRM. Wait, wasn't that step 0? Yeah, have more. And this stuff will sit enabled in your browser addons list unless you manually disable/enable it every time you want to play. Fine, okay, small price to pay for getting things universal.4. Wait a minute, this isn't a menu, it's a wannabe facebook page! With capability to link to your facebook page! I guess marketing wanted a more direct line. Or the guy who programmed the menus quit in a huff after being fun of so much for Bad Company 2's PC interface and server browser.4a. Idle wonder which EA executive thought up the "Gun Club" and loved it enough to save it by forcing users to navigate through it to get to their software.5. Restart browser, relogin to their website, click single player6. Servers are down. What?7. Wait a few hours, servers are up. Try again.8. Hey, it works! Wait, there are menus in here too! You have to open a menu to a website with a menu to open a menu!8a. Get about an hour in and the game locks up. Force quite, restart. Locks in the same spot.Bargaining9. Fine, I didn't need single player anyway! I just want to shoot virtual soldiers while standing on a flag10. Login server error.11. Uncorrupt DNS hosts file, thanks by the way, and try again.12. Play 5 minutes on a server, round ends, map changes, get kicked out for not having punkbuster installed. It is in fact, installed.Depression13. Manually download punkbuster updates, a la recommendation. Fails to work.14. Delete punkbuster updates, make BF3 re-generate the files. Works! Apparently They updated then rolled back.15. Play a round. It's getting late (you spent 6 hours installing, after all!), take a break.16. Unrelated beta version of another program crashes out, go to kill the process.17. Hey, EA garbage is still running! I thought I closed Origin?Acceptance18. Return game, wait for edition that runs inside of Steam. IE, probably going to skip this one over.Final Note: If you wait long enough, the game with be cheap enough with DLC to still cost less than it does now. Karkand isn't even done.PS To EA marketing: You do not need every buzzword in every meeting to be forced into a game.

2This Game is Lazy, Rushed and Bland
By Rhandhali
One of the first things that strikes me about A Game of Thrones: Genesis is how bland it is. Before even talking about mechanics or gameplay or graphics or anything else that makes a game AGOT:G fails because it doesn't completely embrace the source material it purportedly represents. One gets the impression that the game was designed and then, only after a license was acquired, some flavor text slapped together at the last minute and plugged in. The game is painfully generic in comparison to the rich setting of the novels and television series. The first thing you notice is that there aren't even proper place names. In every level you operate from "feudal home" and move about a map populated by places with such interesting names as "town" or "gold mine". You really can't tell that you are supposed to be playing on a map of Westeros; you could just as well be playing in medieval England, Germany, France or even Greyhawk or Faerûn. The world is completely and utterly generic. You are given units that are major characters from the books but they don't do anything. In the first campaign Nymeria is a unit, for example, but she does nothing. You can select her and she'll spurt the occasional flavor text to remind you of where the game is supposed to be set, but you can't move her, order her or do anything at all with her. She just stands there, fixed and immobile. When you can do anything with the characters it's something like a lame escort mission.Missions include things like conquering named places from Westeros. However, no such places exist anywhere on the map. There is no "Crackclaw Point", only "Feudal Home" and a dozen places named "Town". Even the dragons of the Targaryens, whose names are mentioned dozens of times in the books do not warrant anything other than the name of "Dragon" in this game. The mechanics of the game represent a great idea, and one that works well with the source material. Players spend time building up alliances, undermining each other and gathering resources until war inevitably sets in, at which point it becomes an all out slug fest for control with little room for political maneuvering. I like that, it fits the source material and it's a great idea in its own right. Once the banners are called all bets are off and it's you-win-or-you die with your chances of success largely dependent upon how well you prepared for the inevitable war.Unfortunately the real time implementation of these mechanics turns them into a micromanaging mess. During the game you will be constantly following single units around. Enemy units, even military units, will enter your territory and be promptly ignored by the spies, assassins and soldiers you've hired requiring you to constantly watch for a little red blip on the minimap to show where your peasants are being massacred. The graphics are reminiscent of Warcraft III. They might have been great 5 or 6 years ago, but now they're just kind of bland and unimpressive. When combined with the blandness of the game and the mechanics it just makes the game mediocre, bordering on a failure, on every level.Other points to make, well, your units also can be as dumb as pile of rocks. Literally, they will act like a pile of rocks while enemy units fill them with arrows or start stabbing them. The music also shifts inappropriately at times; it will switch over to dramatic "battle time" music while there is nothing going on. Not a terrible flaw, but it does kind of break immersion a bit. Better no music shifts at all than nonsensical ones.Ultimately, AGOT:G is boring. It is just what anyone would usually expect from a game based on licensed materials; it's slapped together from whatever was on hand and largely fails to make full use of its source material. It didn't seem particularly buggy but neither did it really seem polished at all. The mechanics are like a rough draft for a board game shoehorned into a real-time framework; they weren't finished to begin with and then were applied to something they are totally unsuited for. There is some good to be had, the mechanics certainly represent something that would be great with a little more polish and refinement, but they're overwhelmed by the micromanagement and the utter dullness that permeates this game. It's not insultingly bad, just lazy and rushed, destined to pollute bargain bins across the nation for years to come. There is an upcoming RPG that appears to be developed a little more from the ground up, I can only hope that this means that the minds at Cyanide will put a little more of the source material in the game.

2I bought this game of Steam on launch day... read before you buy.
By Indiana Customer
First off, this game is not well polished at all. Mods for Mount and Blade Warband, or Medieval Total War that are based on A Song of Ice and Fire are much better then this game. However, this game is not horrible, it is very political, which is what makes it unique. It plays like a RTS game, so you make armies and they clash it out age of empires style (not total war style), lot of your time is spent acquiring towns through envoys (which is very boring since its all automatic), and then sending out spuies to make sure those towns didnt make a secret agreement with the enemy. Then one of your envoys will get assassinated, and you have to send a spy to locate him (this is all horrible graphics RTS btw, its just 1-2 clicks here and there) after spy locates him you hire mercenaries to take him out, which look no different then your main army (like 3 little guys on horseback, its not cool or anything, just a representation of a army). Anyways, I only gave this game 2 stars because of the story, being able to read before each new chapter 1-2 pages of backstory is the only reason I bought this game. I just am a huge fan of story, but def not this game. Even then its heavily outdated, its maybe 30 seconds of reading backstory (no voice reads it to you like most modern games) then 30 mins of a mission... so yeah

1Awful
By Anodionysus
I was looking forward to this game, as the promos for it looked pretty good. I recognized that it was going to be an AoE RTS-type, but I was OK with that because, well, I really like AoE. But this is, amazingly, actually a worse game than AoE, and AoE came out long ago. The game really has nothing to do with the Ice and Fire series other than you are supposedly a Targaryen. And it supposedly takes place in Westeros. The game is buggy, boring, and kind of hard to figure out. It is not fun by any stretch, but is actually somewhat of interest just because it is so astoundingly awful. Worse game I've played since my brother picked up a ColecoVision at a garage sale.

5Phenomenal.
By theshonen8899
If you enjoyed Portal as much as I did (and I enjoyed it a LOT), prepare to be blown away. Portal 2's single-player campaign is in every way far better than the original. It takes you through unbelievably creative levels with far more dynamics and levels than the first game. I don't want to say too much because honestly, if you are even considering this game then you need to witness it yourself. The only real "con" I can say about this game is that it's campaign is short for the price tag. However, if you felt it was justified to pay ~$50 for Call of Duty 4 despite how short it was, then expect the same quality (if not better) with Portal 2. It's a short campaign, but it is absolutely amazing. Many people have been complaining about the DLCs and other strange things so let me be the first to clarify this for you. Portal 2 has an in-game shop, not unlike Mannconomy from Team Fortress 2. What you can buy are little customizations for your co-op robots, things like skins or gestures. There are about 60+ negative Metacritic reviews complaining about this, saying it should have been included in the game. I honestly do not understand it. This content has nothing to do with the single-player campaign as far as I am concerned, and I really do not care about them. They are just little trinkets that make your robots pretty. I really...don't understand the enormous criticism over it. PC players (which is what I am) have complained about the "Please do not turn off your console" dialog as well, which shows up when you are saving the game. I can assure you that other than this, the entire game feels exactly as well tuned for PC as with every other Valve game. I can hardly understand why they are complaining about this so much when there are games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 or Assassin's Creed II that have significantly screwed PC player over on a magnitude far greater than this. There will be many naysayers that will criticize some very trivial things about the game, and they are doing themselves a great injustice by not enjoying the single-player campaign without any false politics and drama about DLCs or what-not. If you enjoyed the first Portal, you will definitely enjoy this second installment, most likely more than the first. If you're worried about it being too short, wait a while and pick it up when it's $5 on Steam (which you know it will be eventually), or perhaps when it is even free. Either way, you deserve to play this game. Period.P.S. I ran this almost perfectly on my netbook with a Atom 330/nVidia ION on full res and medium textures. My netbook can't even run L4D2 or Team Fortress 2, so Portal 2 can definitely run very well on many computers.

5Quite possibly Valve's best game.
By bryssa
UPDATE (November 22 2012): Since the original review several of my criticisms have been resolved as a commentator pointed out (thanks!). Specifically, with the advent of the level editor and Steam Workshop, there is an absolute ton of quality/mind bendingly difficult maps now. Valve has also added an additional co-op campaign. Basically, there's tons of content and the game has dramatically dropped in price, so my concerns about difficulty and running out of content vs the game's price are now moot.In addition, as of yesterday Valve has added split screen local co-op. Hurray for us HTPC users! My original review has not been edited as I don't like stealth updates to reviews.--There are very few developers that I would pre-order games by pedigree alone. There are even fewer developers that I would pre-order, wait on pins and needles for the unlock, pull an all-nighter during the work week out of pure eagerness to play it, and not regret a thing while I was in zombie mode the next day. As time goes on that list of developers has shrunk to a mere two.Valve is one them, and they have yet to truly disappoint me. They are, for all extents and purposes, the Pixar of gaming for me.That's not to say I'm blind to their faults and mistakes, they've certainly made them before and they'll make them again. None of their games are perfect, either -- including Portal 2. But what they do right they do so bloody well right that it makes the bobbles easy to look past.Half Life 2 may be my personal favorite Valve game for a lot of reasons, but Portal 2 is probably their *best* game when looked at objectively. From the level design and puzzles to the writing and the voice acting to even the subtle touches and animations, Portal 2 is just pure fun and clearly a labor of love. It's a far cry from the derivative sequels churned out by the big publishers that the industry is so often plagued with.Portal was pretty revolutionary at the time and had a bit of a perfect storm of events that propelled it into near legendary status very quickly. Portal 2 doesn't innovate or try to reinvent itself into something else entirely, instead it adds new mechanics in a very organic way without losing much of what made it's predecessor so special. Some are going to try and make that out to be a flaw and call it "recycled" or even "lazy," but I'd be pretty disappointed if that wasn't the case. I wanted a sequel to Portal because I wanted more of it, not something completely different despite a '2' after the name. Portal 2 strikes the right balance of old and new mechanics, while the story is completely different in tone. There is hardly even a mention of cake, thankfully.I'm not going to go into detail about the story and characters; I would be doing a tremendous disservice to anyone debating a purchase if I ruined the humorous twists and turns the story takes, and would recommend to go into it as unspoiled as possible. Everybody has a different sense of humor, but I was thoroughly amused throughout the entire game and often laughing out loud. However, the campaign's humor is not as subtle as the original Portal, and that may be a turn off to some. That subtle, almost unintended humor makes a reappearance in the co-op campaign, but the single player is much more overt. You're no longer a confused test subject in a pristine but creepily abandoned facility trying to figure out what's happened while surviving sadistic puzzles, all leading up to a surprise reveal. You already know the game and the major players this time around, the mystery lies in the history of those involved now and the consequences of your prior actions. The single player campaign is approximately 6-8 hours long over three acts. It can be rushed through even faster, with some beating it in 4-5 hours instead, but I guarantee they haven't found and done everything. There's an entire second subplot hidden in the campaign that continues where the Portal 2 prelude comic left off, along with easter eggs that are very easy to miss that tease of events that took place before and after Portal. Myself and most of my Steam friends list have beaten it in about 7 hours and missed things, including a ton of alternate dialogue from certain characters. Considering that the game can easily be found for $35-$40 and that this doesn't include co-op, the developer commentary playthrough, the future release of the SDK and inevitable user made maps, or any DLC Valve has planned, I feel like I easily got my money's worth already. Portal 2's campaign will be something I replay just for the pure fun of it in the same way I've replayed Portal several times since it was released.Co-op has it's own storyline that continues immediately after the events in single player and will spoil events if you skip the campaign. As already mentioned, the subtle humor of GLaDOS makes a reappearance here to balance the pure hilarity of trying to coordinate four portals. Co-op is at it's best when you and a friend both go in completely blind not knowing how to solve the puzzles, but it's enjoyable even after the solution is known, too. There's just something amusing about sending your buddy crashing into spiked plates and breaking into a dance, much to GLaDOS' ire. Depending on how many (non)accidental deaths you have, the co-op can last 4+ hours in and of itself. It is also much harder than the sometimes too easy single player campaign. The PC and PS3 versions also have cross platform co-op, which is honestly really refreshing. I'm a PC gamer through and through and the idea of playing a first-person-anything on a controller is somewhat horrifying, but it's awesome that I can play alongside my console-orientated friends for once! Having played co-op with both a fellow PC gamer and a PS3 gamer, it's hardly noticeable due to the lack of constant twitch reflexes required. You'll notice the PS3 player sloooooowly turning 180 degrees with their silly analog sticks rather than the quick movement of the KB+M, but that's about it. The benefits of a larger pool of players far outweighs any hangups one might have from playing with console gamers. The item store needs it's own discussion, as it's currently drawing a lot of hate and ire on sites like metacritic. I don't like item stores and really, really dislike this generation's trend toward cutting games up to sell in chunks later. Thankfully, that isn't the case here and anyone that's played a Valve game should honestly know better than to jump to conclusions. There are no maps or gameplay affecting items for sale, they are purely cosmetic and some are unlocked through standard play. There is, for example, a hat for $2.50 that is unlocked for free just for finishing the single player campaign. I've unlocked several gestures and a skin playing halfway through the co-op campaign. None of it is necessary or required to keep up, only one other person at a time can even see whatever silliness your 'bot is dressed up with, and even then it's barely noticeable. If someone is so desperate to equip P-Body in a top hat that they'd spend money on it, that's up to them. But it is completely optional and shouldn't have any bearing on buying the game or not. With all that said, Portal 2 does have some negatives. The worst by far is the constant loading screens. Unlike Portal or Half-Life 2 where the loading was effectively blended in and didn't interrupt the flow of the game, Portal 2 suffers from it. You're taken to black screens with an Aperture Science logo showing progress now, sometimes at times that really break the pacing. I have no idea why this was changed from the system Valve had always used to great effect before, but being completely removed from what you were doing during, for instance, partway through a chase sequence on top of between every puzzle is just plain bad. On my PC the loads were quick and painless, but it definitely impacted pacing. I don't know if this is due to multiplatform development or a limitation of the Source engine, but it's overkill. Bring back the old system, Valve! The PC version, inexplicably, had split-screen co-op dropped as a native feature. I realize that this isn't the most popular multiplayer mode for PC users, but for those of us with HTPCs capable of running Portal 2 it would have been fantastic. This is especially disappointing as the consoles have it. PC users can, through some dev console commands, get a hacked-together version of it running. A menu option would have been vastly preferred to putting in console commands 15 feet away on my tv though.I was surprised to discover that the FOV is locked at the moment, even through console commands. It's set at 90, which should work for most everybody except those trying to play on EyeInfinity-like displays, but it's still very surprising for a Valve game. Hopefully this will be adjustable later on.The single player campaign feels very easy at times and most of the Portal-esque twitch puzzles aren't present. The last third of the campaign begins to ramp the difficulty up, but I imagine that this is the reason why complaints regarding the game's length have been cropping up. It's easy enough that advanced Portal players are blazing through it, and unfortunately don't know (or, sadly, don't care) about some of the hidden areas. This is compounded by the game not shipping with challenge levels, so if you don't have anybody to play co-op with as an advanced player and fear random grouping, you might be out of content faster than you'd like. This will hopefully be solved by the SDK's release and the mod community producing new maps. Those are really my only complaints, anything else is simply nitpicking.I love this game to pieces and it is by far my favorite of the year so far.DRM Note: Like all Valve products since 2004, Portal 2 uses Steamworks and requires Steam activation. This is what enables the cross platform co-op. If you're on a very slow internet connection or simply do not like the Steam client, this may be a no go for you. I've used Steam for years now with no problems but I understand some may not feel the same. It is *not* required that you download the entire game regardless of buying the retail copy, you can install it off the disc just like any other game. If you're having trouble doing so there is a very simple way to force it, but keep in mind that you will have to download the latest patches after your installation before you can disable updates and turn on offline mode.

5AMAZING and HILARIOUS! Better than the original Portal!
By Scott Rose
THIS GAME IS NOTHING SHORT OF A MAGNIFICENT SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENT. GlaDOS would be proud. And believe me, you don't know GlaDOS until you've finished Portal 2.If you loved the original Portal, you're going to fall wildly in love with the sequel!! I wish I could give this 6 stars. This game is so rich and detailed that it is better than most Hollywood movies, let alone most videogames.I'll give you 2 words why this new Portal is so much better than the original: CAVE JOHNSON. One of the many new characters, Cave Johnson is the founder of Aperture Science... and he is ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. But even better, Cave Johnson provides one of those crucial things that is missing from 99.9% of all videogames today: A STORY. A REAL, TRUE, HONEST-TO-GOODNESS BACK STORY.Oh sure, with Portal 2, you've got puzzles to solve, but you've also got the AMAZINGLY RICH BACKSTORY that satisfies and delights and humors you every step of the way. You will find yourself exploring & listening & laughing to the backstory of Aperture Science for just as long of a time as you spend solving puzzles!! And what could possibly be better than symbolically TRAVELING BACK IN TIME to solve the puzzles that Aperture Science put out in the 1950's and 1970's?! SO MUCH FUN!! SO HILARIOUS!! SO REWARDING!!And by no means did I mean to forget about WHEATLEY, the brand new star in the Portal franchise. This character is absolutely laugh-out-loud funny... I simply can't believe how Valve was able to create such a richly humorous character as Wheatley. It really is a testament to the geniuses at Valve Software that they SMARTLY KEPT EVERYTHING that was so perfect about the first game, and -- to prevent you from getting bored with the same ol', same ol' -- they improved upon it in every way humanly possible!! New types of objects to interact with keep the game fresh & exciting: objects like laser redirection cubes, propulsion gel, repulsion gel, and cute weighted cubes from the 1950's. If you thought you had fun flying through the air with momentum in the original Portal, wait until you start bouncing all over walls with repulsion gel, sliding down hallways with propulsion gel, and creating your own portal surfaces with conversion gel! Talk about FUN!! Adding gels to Portal was a simply magnificent idea, without making the gameplay mechanics any more difficult!I'd also like to take a minute to comment on the GORGEOUS ART DESIGN and the MESMERIZING MUSIC SOUNDTRACK throughout the entire game. It must have taken an entire team of genius artists & visionaries years to come up with the hundreds of gorgeously-rendered locations and perfect mood music that carry you through the entire game.If there is a downside to Portal 2, it is that the puzzles are shorter & easier to solve this time around. I felt like the puzzles were closer to a beginner's level this time around, and I wish they were slightly more challenging. (However, this may be because I was trained so well by the original Portal.) But what the puzzles lack in challenge is more than made up for in sheer fun, an amazing cast of characters, hilarious laugh-out-loud comedy, a wonderfully rich & deep plot, the amazing Cave Johnson/Caroline backstory, and SHEER LENGTH of gameplay. Who are these people saying that they beat the game in 6 hours? It took me 32 hours! So anyways, all all of this taken together is really what makes Portal 2 shine beyond my wildest imagination. You will feel COMPLETELY SATISFIED INSIDE YOUR SOUL when you play and finish this game, because the game RICHLY REWARDS YOU for diving into this entire world. Outside of the original Portal, I can't think of ANY game I've played in the last 10 or 15 years that was as PURE FUN and RICHLY SATISFYING as Portal 2.NOTE: If you haven't played the first Portal, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you purchase & play the ORIGINAL PORTAL FIRST! If you don't play the original Portal, you're not going to understand much of the storyline in this Portal. Plus, you may be totally confused with the early puzzles in Portal 2, because they don't spend a lot of time retraining you on old skills. Don't gip yourself out of this experience by skipping over the first Portal. And, of course, the original Portal is a worldwide classic, so why WOULDN'T you want to play the original Portal first anyways?REGARDING THE PRICE OF PORTAL 2: There are some nincompoops here complaining that the game is too expensive. I personally found it a great value for my money. There are other people here complaining about the high cost of DLC (downloadable content)... this make no sense at all, because you don't NEED to purchase ANY DLC AT ALL to finish this game. The DLC is only for the most hardcore nerdiest of nerds, who need to dress up their robots in multiplayer mode with extra add-ons that are completely unnecessary. If you're THAT MUCH into this game and yet you're complaining about the price of the unnecessary/optional add-ons, then maybe you should get off your couch and look into getting a job so you can afford to dress up your robot?IN SUMMARY: This game is FANTASTIC. Kudos to the developers for not ruining what was a good thing to begin with, and for simply expanding upon the same winning formula!! I hope they create a Portal 3!!! Oh boy, do I hope they create a Portal 3.

4A fun installment of a classic series
By D. Chimes
I'm a big fan of Street Fighter II. I grew up playing the arcade in the grocery store, spending quarter after quarter beating up Chun Li and then being pummeled by the terrifying Blanka. But that was nearly 2 decades ago, and here we are in 2009 with Street Fighter IV for the PC.Thumbs-up go to... *Traditional 2-D fighting, with 3-D models and environments *Classic characters plus a few new ones *Great button-mashing fun for the causal player *Focus & combo attacks for the advanced player to master *Online multiplayerThumbs-down go to... *Windows live account needed to save data *Poor English voice-acting (you can choose Japanese or English voices) *CPU controlled characters are annoying, using repetitive moves *Imbalanced A.I. I was beaten by the easiest difficulty and then immediately won a match against the hardest. Very Odd.Verdict...The majority of the game is solid. Fans of Street Fighter will like the feel of this one. The in-game graphics are sharp and colorful, and the character models are well fleshed out. Sure they have huge cartoon muscles but who wants to battle it out with a skinny, malnourished Ryu. The animation runs smooth and looks great for all the moves too. The game does includes some anime cut-scenes to tell part of the narrative. The anime doesn't bug me too much, but I would have preferred a more congruent style for the cut-scenes such as the wonderful in-game graphics. Still it's a good game, lots of unlockables, a training mode, and overall satisfying. 4/5 stars.

2Good game but Forces users to sign up to microsoft live
By JH
SF4 is a great game, for all the reasons noted by other reviewers. But watch out! You CANNOT SAVE unless you sign up for Microsoft Live. Game progress does not save to your computer. If you uninstall MS Live, then the game DOES NOT work. It's a ridiculous setup that leaves no choice; very Microsoft.

4Very entertaining
By Just a casual reader.
Simply said this product exceeded expectation. It is a bit challenging, and you should really get a cheap controller to use with it, but other than that this is a top notch product and it is obvious that there was a lot of time invested in it.

4Yay zombies!
By Jym
This is a very fun add-on to Borderlands: you need Borderlands and a hard drive to benefit from this expansion. It's really 2 things, the Moxxi Underdome and the zombie island. I love the zombie stuff: fun, fun, fun. I like the zombie expansion better than Left 4 Dead or Resident Evil. A variety of new enemies and environments: you start in a "bayou" area that is just good old-fashioned horrifying fun: zombies popping out of the muck and trying to eat your brains. The new missions in Moxxi's Underdome are ok so far, nothing great. The real plus of the Underdome area is a bank that lets you stash items rather than make the tough choice to sell some of those things you like but don't have space to carry.

4Fun expansion with plenty of content, very challenging.
By B. Jones
This expansion comes in two parts: The underdome and Dr. Ned's Zombie Island. Both are very fun, and quite challenging. They require new techniques apart from the normal campaign. For example, on the Zombie Island, corrosive weapons are nearly useless against the zombies while explosvie are among the most effective. The Zombie Island add-on is well worth playing, and can add another 10-12 hours of gameplay onto the original game. There are new enemies and challenges that you do not get in the original game. The XP gained and weapons collected in these missions carry over to the main game. The integration is pretty seamless in that regard. The underdome is a slightly more frustrating add on, but it is a fun way to play with friends and re-play bosses and enemies you have played in the original campaign. There are different strengths and weaknesses given to you in every round in the different domes, and creative challenges put in place against your enemies. Very fun, but it can be very frustrating. You can keep the weapons that spawn for you (sometimes eridian weapons), but you gain no XP just for playing. I havent been able to beat a single dome yet after many attempts.Overall, this is a 4-star recommended add-on with plenty of worthy content to make a great game even better!

4Excellent Game - Excellent Add-on!!!
By Cindy B.
I absolutely LOVED the original Borderlands - one of the best games of last year in my opinion. Great shooter action, tons of different weapons, excellent humor!! The add-on pack totally delivered a "post game fix"!!! The add-on was HUGE and almost like a whole new game! The only other xbox 360 "add-on" I'd done before was for Fallout 3, and I was SO happy with it AND Borderlands.
