4Kinect, one year later
By Louie the Italian Jew
First off, I'd like to say that I'm a motion gaming addict. Microsoft offers this package, which is their best package to date. If you plan on just buying this package, and a couple other Microsoft games, I'd say go for it. Gunstringer, in my opinion, shows off what the Kinect can do, as well as Fruit Ninja Kinect. Most people who have played Kinect Adventures get bored after a week, although when I first played it, it was fascinating. In Gunstringer, you raise your left arm out and navigate your character. Your right arm is your trigger arm, and when you roll over characters, you raise your arm to shoot. It's a lot of fun, as I have to say that it's a good choice for this package, although there is an adult theme that one must be aware of. Fruit Ninja Kinect is a downloadable title, and has high replayability value. It's lots of fun to swipe your arm across the picture to chop fruits in half. Now, for my gripes. I've always thought that boxing and tennis would be the hottest selling games, and games that wouldn't require much space. Exercise games are awesome also, but until the Kinect can allow you to play in a smaller space, there is a problem a lot of people will have. Many users claim you only need 6 feet, but I find this untrue. 6 feet only will work with a lot of games(the games in this package work great with only 6 feet), but I've found that when other developers games all of a sudden require me to step back, the whole formula doesn't work. Most of the other developers games are by Ubisoft and THQ. Ubisoft is better of the two, but in my opinion, neither can compete with a game developed by Microsoft, which really takes limited space into account.Kinect is still based off of hope for the future:A year ago, many high reviews based this off of HOPE. A year later, and I'd say there are only a handful Microsoft exclusives, and a lot is still based off of hope. I'd say the best of the bunch are the Kinect Sports 1 and 2, but I'd prefer to see each sport focused on more, in a stand alone title like a Grand Slam Tennis, for instance. Star Wars Kinect seems to be promising, but as of today the release date is December 31. 2012.In conclusion, I feel this is a generous deal by Microsoft for the 2011 holiday season, and is a bargain with the included games worth fifty dollars. Who knows? In a few months, you may end up like me, always checking to see if there are any new releases for the Kinect. Have a good one. Peace out!

4I have only one complaint
By A. Hodges
I bought a Kinect mostly so I could play the dance games for a little extra exercise to hopefully rid me of my slightly chunky thighs. I ended up buying several games for it along with the three it came with. So far it has worked almost perfectly with each game. I think it's great that it can track my movement so I can be interactive with the games rather than just sitting their pressing buttons on a controller while drooling down the front of my shirt. I also like that I can select options by a swipe of my hand through the air so I don't have to be attached to a controller while playing. I only have one complaint. While playing Just Dance 3 and other games, I noticed that the Kinect seemed to have a mind of its own and was selecting songs and options even when I wasn't moving. I realized after moving out of the screen altogether that it was picking up my cat sleeping on the couch behind me, even though my cat wasn't moving other than breathing. It sometimes counts my sleeping cat as another player and turns what should have been a solo dance into a partner dance, in which, obviously, my cat does not score well. Now, if my cat could get up and dance with me, I would be very happy and have lots of funny videos to post on the internet, but it can't, so I don't like that the Kinect picks it up as a player, especially when it's just sleeping behind me. Why can't its sensors just pick up things that are human-shaped? Now, I try to keep my cats out of the way, but that's not always easy because they have these four little things called legs. Sometimes I notice when no one (not even my cat) is in the screen with me, the Kinect will still seem to have a mind of its own and select things while I'm not moving. Sometimes it scrolls up and down jerkily through the song selection when I'm standing still or even out of the screen completely. I discovered it was picking up a throw blanket that was behind me (moving it out of the way made the Kinect stop scrolling on its own), a foot stool, and another time it picked up the corner of a computer chair. I don't know why it does this when the items are not moving or even remotely human. This messes up my game play at times and it's very annoying. I think maybe it's too sensitive and acting like a drama queen. That said, I still love my Kinect and I'm happy to have it. It has made playing video games more fun for me. I usually only played Left 4 Dead 2, Halo: Reach, and Borderlands, but now I play more of a variety of games and don't get fat doing it. Sometimes it feels good to take a break from shooting things and stand up and do the Carlton instead.

3Not perfect, but close
By S. Kamalsky
Once my wife saw the dancing games for the Kinect, she just had to have it. We have the wii and that is always good fun, but not having to hold a motion controller in your hand with the Kinect seems like a great idea. It takes a little time to get use to, and overall it's not bad but it's not perfect. I find navigating the xbox menu using the Kinect is a great idea but it's a bit troubling. It doesn't always pick up your movements and sometime it will pick up your movements half way through. So far we have only played Dance Central 2, Just Dance 3 and the games that game with it. Fruit Ninja is great fun and Gunstringer is OK but awkward to play, Kinect Adventures is also OK but more for the kids. Overall I think it's fun to play at parties and I can't wait to try the new Star Wars game coming with force powers. I hope lives up to the hype.

NASCAR The Game 2011

Product Description

NASCAR The Game 2011 has been built from the ground up to make a thoroughly new experience. The development team started by speaking with the people who know NASCAR best - the fans - and took that insight to the teams, drivers and officials to completely embrace what makes NASCAR America's #1 motorsport. Players can choose to play as themselves or as one of the sport's real-world drivers as they battle it out for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship. Each pro driver has the AI characteristics of his or her real world counterpart, setting the stage for intense rivalries played out on the track. Damage is meticulously detailed and multi-car wrecks are the most extreme ever experienced in an officially licensed racing game. From the 22 real world tracks to full pit stop strategy action, NASCAR The Game 2011 captures the real atmosphere, sense of speed and spectacle that embodies NASCAR. Players can even feel the thrill of a win with the interactive celebration mode. The game also includes in-depth multiplayer modes which allow up to 16 players to battle it out for the win online. In both online and offline races, players earn NASCAR experience points which help unlock rewards such as decal packs or special car designs, as well as career sponsorships and special races throughout career mode. Everything you do on the track counts! With a fresh infusion of real world detail and blistering racing action, NASCAR The Game 2011 completely redefines what fans can expect from a NASCAR racing game.

1NASCAR The Game 2011 Xbox 360 Review
By Gamer 6_01_8_5
I must say, I was excited for the release of this game, but after playing the retail version with patch #1 downloaded from Xbox Live, I am most disappointed. The developers and publishers (Eutechnyx and Activision), in my opinion, have released a beta version. The developers started off with the right idea, but, either due to time constraints, budget issues, or contractual obligations, released an unfinished and untested game. This game, compared to other racing games (not just NASCAR games), is poor and unfinished. Compared to today's current generation offerings, to include but not limited to: GRID, DIRT 2, FORZA 3, GT5, Flat Out: Ultimate Carnage, PGR4, BLUR, MotorStorm, NFS HP, Shift 2, etc..., there is no comparison. The immersion, graphics, AI, game play, replay value, car customization, as well as replay mode (some of the above have replay mode) are far and above what NASCAR The Game 2011 can offer. It's not that the driving physics are bad, or the graphics are cut rate, or the game freezes (not including online play), but small things are present in today's version that take away from what could have been a great first entry for the developers. The AI is untested, the small details that make up NASCAR racing don't currently work (AI crashes, caution flags, pit stops, track side details, car damage), the replay video after a race is a joke (it looks like paper cut outs of cars placed on your TV screen). It's horrendous that developers would release this to the public, when the public can purchase instead cheaper and better racing games that are out right now that handle everything that I mentioned 100% better. It's not good enough to compare NASCAR The Game 2011 to EA's NASCAR 09. We have to compare it to other racing games, arcade or simulation. And when compared, it's poor. The developers missed the mark on this entry. Because of that, I can only hope that maybe someday, CodeMasters (creators of GRID, DIRT, and F1 2010) will make a decent NASCAR game.I am not looking for simulation, because iRacing has that field covered. What I am looking for is a polished, fun, exciting racing game that properly represents the spectacle of NASCAR racing. NASCAR The Game 2011 does not offer that experience. As a gamer, when I pay $60 dollars for a product, I expect a finished product. NASCAR The Game 2011, in its current state, is not a finished product. My only hope is that the developers can support this game with patches, as they have stated that they would on their forums. My concern is that patches will not fix many of the items gamers are currently complaining about. If that's the case, I will keep my money when NASCAR The Game 2012 releases. The old saying goes, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me".

1Complete waste of $
By Tony E.
Out of the box, this is the biggest disaster I have ever witnessed. There's more bad than good about this game. The worst thing I have seen in 20+ years of console and computer gaming. The good : graphics are nice looking..... that's really about it.The bad : Where to beginIn single player after you complete 1 season, you have to start over your "career" if you want to race a 2nd season.AI is terribly easy to win against even on the hardest settings.Caution flags do not work for you. If an AI car spins/wrecks you, no caution. If you spin/wreck an AI car the caution is out immediately.Drafting is a joke. When you get in a draft it's like hitting the turbo in Mario Kart where you boost about 30 MPH.Car damage is terribly lacking. You can hit a wall head-on at 150+ MPH and have no damage at all to the car. To this day, I still can't get a car to breakdown. No matter how hard I try.If you run out of gas, you get a DNF. No coasting, no tow....GAME OVERNo rear view/virtual mirrors in views outside of the car. Even in car views the mirrors don't work right. To even see them in the car you turn the drivers head.Wall glue is worse than NR2003. If you graze the wall you'll lose 20-30 MPHIf you hit an orange cone at speed you'll get airborne as if it was a ramp.Pit road bugs :If you get wrecked and end up going into pit lane you'll get a black flag for speed or backing in.While racing, if you break the timing line while racing(I do it a lot at Richmond) black flag.Online : Completely unplayable1 minute wait timer resetting. it's easier to have a ready button. It can take over 10 minutes in the lobby for a "quick" race to start. If there's more than 6 players be prepared to wait well over 5 minutes (I've timed it and got tired at 5 minutes) for the race to load.If you get lucky enough for a race to load, then you have to hope you don't get any of the numerous starting bugs. Cars missing the bodies, chassis only, starting upside down, flipping... the list goes on.Paint booth -Very confusing and terribly buggy as well. Can't use the Pre-set #'s if you want them to be seen. You have to use text to have #'s shown.Adding text. you can only add 1 letter at a time.Tracks - Complete failurescaution lights are on 100% of the time.Watkins Glen the pit boxes are on the left side. The tracks in the game is pretty much flat. In real life into turn 1 there is a hill, turns have banking. Some night races are orange. I think only Bristol Night is dark.Steering wheels - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USEThis game has broken/ruined/fried many wheels. 1 guy had 2 get broken thinking his 1st one might have been on it's way out.I only scratched the surface with the bugs. Many more out there, too much too type. They are working of patches, but the list of bugs is too long. The game has loads of potential but out of the box it is NOT worth the buying price. I've lost any and all hope on this company. Most if not all of these bugs should have been found in Alpha/Beta testing, if they even did any of that. They have the NASCAR license for 5 years. Hopefully gamers won't have to wait that long for a good, playable game from a different company. EA's NASCAR games are much better than this release.

1Are you kidding me??? NASCAR should be ashamed.
By msubulldog54
I bought this as a pre-order because I was so amped up about getting a NASCAR game for my XBox 360. What I saw online was that this was supposed to be a great game, and would be better than ever. WRONG. A lot of people have spoken about the game play, but I will tell you what makes me mad that I paid $60 for this game.1. The points system is last year's system. I'm a huge NASCAR fan, and I want the new rules to be included in my NASCAR games. If I just wanted to race, I would stick to Forza. I want NASCAR.2. Pit Stops - It is great that they used motion capture of Matt Kenseth's "Killer Bees", but they didn't capture any mistakes. Every pit stop is the same every time, and you gain no advantage or disadvantage on pit road. They give you some different options for adjusting your car on pit road, but you don't get to fix any damage. In fact, they barely give you enough time to take advantage of the few adjustment options they do have. Under caution, the cars on track go much faster than pit road speed, so you end up losing tons of spots on pass through penalties. A huge pet peave of mine is that they still have a catch can man. There are no catch cans in NASCAR anymore!!!3. Career Mode??? - ONE season does not constitute a career mode. Besides, whose career starts in the Sprint Cup series, anyway? What happened to the Whelen Modifieds, the Truck Series, and Nationwide??? You don't get any of those options.4. Sponsorships - In order to get a sponsorship, you have to complete certain achievements. Once you obtain a sponsorship, there is no money involved, and the sponsor doesn't even get to go on the car. If there is one thing I know, it's that sponsors want their names to be seen. There are fewer than 20 sponsors you can choose for your car, and you can get them regardless of whether or not you have a sponsorship from them.5. Car Customization - You can choose 1 car color, and no secondary colors. In order to accomplish any type of this, you have to spend way too much time picking layers and graphics. Then comes actually applying them to the car. The settings for the controls are too sensitive to get them in the right spots. No matter what you make your number, you're still #53. It took a lot of time to actually get my car to have a number on it on race day. Getting an outline on a number is nearly impossible, but after an hour, I accomplished it correctly. All in all, I am glad to have a good NASCAR game. Unfortunately, it's on my PS2 and several years old. This game is the result of NASCAR letting a European company take a 100% American sport and making it into a video game. I don't think they can put enough patches or changes out to make this game tolerable. I can't wait until the 5 year contract is up on this developer. NASCAR should be ashamed of this game, and I'm shocked they let their name be on it with such little effort put into making it.

5The best 360 yet
By DrNegative
I sold my older model Xbox and purchased this Reach bundle as a replacement. After unboxing and testing it out, I have to say its a huge upgrade from my previous model. It runs quieter and cooler since the "Slims" are built on the new 45nm "Valhalla" motherboard architecture which also require less power. Finally some built-in Wi-Fi too.It looks beautiful...Bungie's custom artwork really sets this thing apart from the rest....work of art. The custom Reach controllers also look great and compliment the Xbox's Reach design theme. Not to mention you get "two" of them in this bundle....in my case I have a brand new spare now to store away for later. The custom sounds when powering up this Xbox and opening the disc tray were neat, I liked them. Further adds to the Halo theme. Also included as a bonus with the Reach Xbox bundle were codes for: Falcon Avatar accessory, Elite officer armor, Spartan Recon helmet, an episode of Halo Legends called "The Package", and a 2-day Xbox Live Gold trial. The console is also Kinect-ready.5-stars, anything less would be absurd.

5Awesome platform - a definite improvement
By Ro9ue
**This review is for the console itself, not the game.**My Pro was getting old, slow, and loud. Having to reallocate memory as DLC, arcade games, and save files accumulate on the 20 GB HDD was getting old, too. So my love for the Halo universe convinced me that things had lined up such that I could upgrade in style with the new Halo: Reach bundle.Overall, fantastic console.LOOKS:Stylish silver matte coating with gray and black Halo-themed decorations sprinkled over it. Does not retain finger prints (know this was a big issue a lot of people over-exaggerated with the other 360-S's -- though why you're fondling your 360 after you get it set up is unclear to me). Controllers look very nice, too - I love the new look. New power block (downsized from the clunky original "brick") is black and more aesthetically streamlined.PERFORMANCE:Loads quickly, smoothly, and without problems. Does exactly what it's supposed to. Have not tried the wireless yet, as I used a wired connection. Controllers respond very well (though it might just be that I'm used to old/worn controllers). Standard headset mic still requires you to yell into it, but if you don't have to worry about keeping your voice down, it works just fine.HEAT MANAGEMENT:Console itself stays pretty cool for such a device. The S's new heat sink system appears to whisk away most of the heat from the internal components and out the vents, presumably keeping the CPU, GPU, and other chipsets cooler.**NOTE: I've read a lot of reviews complaining the S runs hotter than the original. This is not accurate. The air coming out of the console is hotter. This means more heat is being expelled and that less heat is trapped inside the console, meaning what matters - the temp of your hardware - is staying cooler.NOISE:Runs whisper-quiet. I played it for 7-8 hours straight (judge if you will - I was just, you know, testing the hardware =P), stayed consistently quiet the entire time.Overall, again, great console. I'm quite happy with this purchase.Plus the game made it that much better. Quite simply the best Halo game since Halo: CE (Reach is now the king of the Halo games, offering the most gameplay features, co-op opportunities, fearsome and unpredictable AI, game options/customization, sexy visual/audio experience, replayability, character variety, and overall value ever in a Halo game).

5Excellent value for the bundle.
By Jimbo
Well, a week or so before Halo: Reach came out, my 360 decided it would be a great time to start freezing up for no reason, and I wasn't going to pay to get it fixed when I got a replacement refurbished console just 9 months ago (finally got RROD'd but fell under the seemingly unlimited extended warranty for the 3 flashing lights). So I decided to go ahead and get the Halo: Reach bundle as a replacement. I fixed the old console anyway (unsurprisingly, the shoddy X-Clamps were the culprit), but figured it would be a nice upgrade to have regardless since my old one is the original model. The bundle is pretty nice for the $400 price tag. You get two controllers, a copy of Reach (with some extras thrown in for good measure) and of course, the console itself. Being an owner of an original Xbox 360, it's easy to notice the advantages the 360 S has over the old model. The biggest improvement is ventilation; you'll notice a lot of hot air coming out of the console and might worry it's overheating as a result, but it's actually doing a better job of pushing more air out (unlike the old console, which had terrible overheating problems). I haven't cracked open the console itself to see what they changed on the inside since I just got it and don't feel like voiding my brand new warranty (here's to hoping they got rid of the horribly cheap X-Clamps in the old model and replaced them with actual screws this time) but overall it seems like it does a much better job of dissipating heat so it seems like everything inside should work fine. There's numerous other improvements as well; built in Wireless N (which works great and takes almost no time to set up), touch sensitive buttons (which make cool Halo noises when used), and a sleeker, more angular design than the original 360 model. Oh, and one of the best parts of the new design? The console no longer sounds like a freight train! I wouldn't say it's "whisper quiet" like it's advertised as, but it is definitely quieter. The disc drive no longer makes your console sound like your Xbox is blasting off into space when in use. And if you install your games (which you should, with 250g of space to spare) it's even quieter. It still makes some noise, but at least it doesn't sound like your Xbox is trying to calculate the true value of Pi anymore. As for the design of the console, the console in this package is Halo-themed; it's silver and has the ONI logo on it and is labeled as an "Archive Reader." The Silver finish is great looking, so it will fit in well with the rest of your electronics so you won't have to be embarrassed to have it in your entertainment center. The two wireless controllers are also themed in a similar fashion to the console (again, a nice silver finish with black used for the shoulder buttons and the bottom part). Everything else about the controllers is the same, they just look cooler. The new Xbox also comes with a smaller power brick (albeit, there still is one). No, it isn't Reach themed (that would be sort of weird anyway) but it's smaller and the console itself uses less power overall. There are a few disappointments with the system (specifically related to all Xbox 360S'es, not the Halo: Reach one in particular since they're the same anyway). There's no memory card slot, so if you overpaid for one of those years ago (like I did) so you could carry your profile to your friend's house, well, you can basically throw it out since now you'll have to use USB drives. Also, the package doesn't come with an HDMI cable or a component HD AV cable, even though they had no issues packing one in with the Pro models almost 5 years ago. Guess Microsoft is trying to squeeze a few extra dollars out of purchasers. I had a spare HDMI cable anyway, so it didn't matter to me, but make sure you get some sort of HD capable cable if you buy this bundle and have an HDTV because otherwise you're stuck with standard def (and don't go and buy MS's overpriced cables, you can get an HDMI cable that's just as good for way less here on Amazon).I won't review Halo: Reach in depth here since there's already a ton of reviews about the game, but it is a potential Game of the Year candidate. It can definitely keep you entertained until the next generation of consoles, and probably even longer (after all, Halo 2 was more popular than any Xbox 360 game till Gears of War came out about a year later). It's worth buying a 360 for in my opinion, or more specifically, this bundle. In addition to Halo: Reach, you get some extras as well. You get a code for a Recon helmet variant (normally in any pre-order or launch day copy), a code for the Elite Officer armor permutation (Limited/Legendary edition normally), a Falcon for your Avatar (better than nothing I guess, although if you really like Avatars, I guess it's cool) and an episode of Halo: Legends. Some nice extras that certainly aren't going to make or break the package, but are nice extras nonetheless.Overall, you get a great value here. If you don't own a 360 but are interested in getting one so you can play Reach, this bundle is excellent and sports some cool looking controllers and a sexy console. If you're looking to upgrade and have the cash to spare, it's also worth the price (can always sell any extra stuff you don't need anyway). Aside from a few complaints about the console (complaints which apply to all 360 S consoles, not just the Reach one) the package is excellent.
